ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet, by way of appeal of summary, approved salary package, privileges and additional benefits of Lieutenant General (right) Nazir Ahmad Butt, as Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday.
According to sources, the ministry of Law and justice after receiving approval and permission from the Minister of Law and justice requested approval of federal cabinet through appeal of summary for definition of terms and conditions of chairman of the NAB as admissible to the judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Under section 6(b)(v) of National Accountability Ordinance, 199, as amended, see (National Accountability 2th Amendment Act 2022), the federal government may determine terms and conditions of NAB Chairman.
Sources said that after receiving cabinet approval, the chairman of NAB will receive 17 lakhs per month. government residence, two vehicles while he will also get a plot of two channels in federal capital. Chairman of the NAB will receive an additional 2,000 units of electricity per month and 600 liters of gasoline every month, they added.
It is appropriate to note here that his predecessor (Chairman of the NAB) also liked the same terms and conditions.
NAB Chairman is in an extremely sensitive position and is trusted with emergency duties. It is appropriate to mention here that Lieutenant General (right) Nazir Ahmad was appointed NAB chairman from the ministry. of Law and Justice Notice dated 6th March 2023 and he took charge of V post of NAB Chairman on same day.
